A recent article from Kiplinger identifies 11 features that home buyers desire.  A few fit right in to what people love about living in Chattanooga.

Outdoor lighting is a particularly affordable improvement to your home that makes a big impact.  Beautiful landscaping and anything to highlight it goes a long way for curb appeal.

Another interesting element specified in the article is the desire for a patio.  This can be especially true for our area, given that Chattanooga is THE Scenic City.  This may also be an easier and less intrusive option than in interior remodel.  Plus, there are tons of designs and layouts that you may be able to DIY and save some money.

Surprisingly, buyers also look for a dining room.  For a while this room was seen as out-of-date, giving way to great rooms and eat-in kitchens, but formal entertaining and family dinners are making a come-back.  Southern hospitality at its best.

Features that didn’t make the list but are commonly sought after in our area include a basement, master on the main, and a large yard.

So, what’s on your most wanted list?
